The Time has come: RiverHawks to announce head coach
KNOXVILLE, TN- In eight days, the Tennessee RiverHawks will end the suspense and speculation surrounding their Head Coach position. The RiverHawks will hold a press conference at Riverside Tavern at 1pm Friday, January 17 to announce their Head Coach.
Team Owner John Candlish today offered insight into the criteria for the decision, “The Head Coach portrays the personality of the organization and is the driving force behind the competitiveness of the team. Players must believe in their coach in order to perform to the best of their ability. We had to make sure we had someone that could lead and motivate the team and at the same time, be a positive representation of the entire organization.”
The announcement will not come too soon. “There has been rumor and hearsay about why we have waited so long,” stated RiverHawks General Manager Garmez Parks of the upcoming announcement. “We are continuing to build a quality organization, with a championship football team. This decision is the next step in that process.”
The new Head Coach will enter into a busy RiverHawks preseason. The Coach’s first official task will be to oversee the team’s open tryout on January 25. Player signings will continue until training camp begins in early March.
The RiverHawks inaugural season will begin March 22 at the Civic Coliseum versus the 2002 NIFL Champion Ohio Valley Greyhounds. Season tickets are on sale now, call 637-2000 for more information or visit www.riverhawksfootball.com
