Capitols announce 2003 office staff

The Lincoln Capitols would like to introduce the 2003 office staff. First off, Michael D. Ryan the first year  general manager.  Michael spent 30 years in the health care field where he supervised multi-million dollar budgets for numerous nursing homes.  He directed many activities, which resulted in his nursing homes becoming the first freestanding facility in Nebraska to receive Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations status.

Born in Blair, Nebraska, Michael D. Ryan started his own business at age 16 as a floor care professional.  While working at a nursing home during high school and college, his vacation time was spent volunteering at the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy camp, along with doing church housing mission work in the Cumberland Gap region of the United States.

Michael served on the Governors Nursing Home Advisory Council, which drafted revisions to the state of Nebraska’s nursing home regulations.  He is an active member of the Lincoln Sports Promotion Council, which was responsible for bringing Nebraska its first professional indoor football team, the Lincoln Lightning, to Lincoln.

Michael is a graduate of the University of Nebraska Medical Center and became Nebraska’s youngest licensed nursing home administrator ever in 1980.  He has an undergraduate certificate of Specialization in Gerontology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and has served as a nursing home administrator preceptor.  Michael completed internships at Oakland Heights and the Department of Human Services, Administration on Aging in Kansas City, Missouri.

Matt Starr in second year with the Lincoln Capitols as the community relations and game day operations coordinator.  Matt started out as a intern and was hired on full –time with the Lincoln Lightning as Public Relations director. Matt then was hired when the doors open for the Lincoln Capitols.  Matt graduated from Wayne State College with a degree in Sports Management and currently working on his masters at UNL.  Matt is the owner and editor of High School Basketball Preview Guide.  Matt attended Ashland-Greenwood High School where he was a standout in football, basketball, and track.
