Capitols announce 2003 coaching staff

Chuck Mizerski and Trever Whiting have been hired to assist the Lincoln Capitols new head coach Marc Munford for the 2003 National Indoor Football League season.  Mizerski enters his second year as assistant coach for the Capitols after helping guide the team to a division championship in their 2002 inaugural season.  Mizerski is well known in the Lincoln area having spent the last 23 years building a high school coaching legacy that includes five state championships and three runner-up trophies as the head football coach of Lincoln Southeast High School.   He has been honored by the Nebraska Coaches Association, Lincoln Journal Star and the Omaha World Herald as the state’s “Prep Coach of the Year.”  Originally from Granite City, Illinois, Mizerski played collegiate football and earned his B.S. from Peru State College and a masters degree from Northwest State.

Whiting, 24, also enters his second year with the Capitols, starting last season as an intern coach and then being promoted to assistant coach in the latter part of the 2002 season.  Whiting is from Clay Center, Nebraska and graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan with a degree in Human Health and Performance in May of 2002.  He is currently assistant and wide receivers coach for Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina Kansas.

The Lincoln Capitols are members of the North Division of the Pacific Conference of the National Indoor Football League, and will open the season on the road against St Louis on March 21.  The home opener at the Pershing Center will be March 27 against the Sioux Falls Storm.
