LandSharks lose second game

02/14/03 The Hammerheads, LandSharks Booster Club Article

The Lake Charles Land Sharks had their second game this week ... basketball that is. After losing 83-80 on Tuesday to the Sulphur High Faculty/Coaches the Land Sharks took on the Washington-Marion High Faculty/Coaches/Players in another benefit game. The proceeds from the Sulphur game went to the Sulphur High Wrestling team and the proceeds from the Washington-Marion game went to the school itself.

The Land Sharks fell behind 8-0 to Washington-Marion before a bucket by Michael Warren (DL). The two teams played even for the rest of the first quarter with WM leading 22-16. WM then built a huge lead in the 2nd quarter and lead by as many as 20 before the Sharks cut the lead to 14 and ended up behind 46-32 at the half.

After a halftime show that was longer than the Super Bowl, the two teams finally hit the floor. The Land Sharks came back to within 8 before the WM players stepped onto the floor and hit a barrage of 3-pointers that extended the lead to 68-52 by the end of the 3rd quarter.

The 4th quarter was chaos as the Land Sharks tried to pressure their way back into the game and with very little officiating it looked more like a football game than a basketball game. Washington-Marion of Lake Charles ended up winning the game 82-68.

The Land Sharks was lead in scoring by Clarence Ceasar (DE) and Tim Sensley (WR) with 13,Timmy Dronet (WR) 11, Tony Citizen (RB) 10, Michael Warren (DL) and Reggie Williams (WR) 6, Darnell Lee (S/LB) and Major Griffin (DL) 3, Butch Monticello (LB) 2, and Leroy Jackson (WR) 1
