Storm sign former D-1 players, Graue and Bivins
02/17/03 Storm Press Release
The Sioux Falls Storm of the National Indoor Football League (NIFL) is pleased to announce the signing of two former Division I athletes in Colorado State University defensive end Geoff Graue and Murray State University running back Justin Bivins.
Graue, a 6’4”, 250 lbs. and honorable mention All Mountain West Conference in 2001, will join the Storm for the 2003 season. He played in all 11 games as a senior at Colorado State University. “We are extremely excited to bring Geoff in and have this kind of athlete and player at our defensive end position,” says head coach Kurtiss Riggs.
Justin Bivins, 5’8”, 190 lbs., played two years in college at Ball State University before transferring and finishing up his career at Murray State University. Bivins has two years experience in the NIFL and was an All-NIFL selection as a running back last season for the Winston-Salem Energy. “Justin is that Barry Sanders type back with great quickness and strength. With Bivins complementing the hard nosed type running of David Ruter, we will have a very strong backfield,” says head coach Kurtiss Riggs.
The Storm will head to Sioux City, Iowa on March 6 for a preseason game with the Bandits. The Storm’s home opener is slated for April 5, as Casper, Wyoming comes to Sioux Falls. All seven of the Storm’s home games are Saturday night with kickoff at 7:05 pm.
