RiverHawks sign all-purpose player

02/21/03 RiverHawks Press Release

The Tennessee RiverHawks signed versatile running back Brandon Walker.  He is a graduate of East Tennessee State University, where he holds the school record as the all-time leading rusher with 4,095 yards.

In 2002, Walker played for the Tennessee ThunderCats and was third on the team in all-purpose yards.  He amassed 600 yards on 95 carries with 13 touchdowns.  As a receiver, Walker had 17 receptions for 250 yards and 4 touchdowns.  In 10 games on kick return, he gained 206 yards.  Walker will be competing for playing time with 2002 NIFL League MVP Birdie Dockery and former ThunderCats teammate Michael Cosey.

“Brandon Walker was one of the best kept secrets of the NIFL last year.  The young man is strong, fast and very talented.  He adds another big time weapon to our offensive arsenal,” said General Manager and offensive coordinator Garmez Parks on the signing of Brandon Walker.

The Tennessee RiverHawks begin their inaugural season on March 22 at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum against the Ohio Valley Greyhounds.  For more ticket information call (865) 637-2000 or visit the RiverHawks official website at www.riverhawksfootball.com.
