Players report today, Night Train camp opens tomorrow

02/28/03 Night Train Press Release

More than 40 players are reporting for physicals and testing today as the La Crosse Night Train begins official training camp this weekend. Players will undergo physicals today at Gundersen Lutheran before attending meetings this afternoon. Testing and orientation will take place tonight beginning at 8:00 p.m. at the La Crosse Boys & Girls Club.

Tomorrow morning’s 8:00 a.m. session will be the official start of the 2003 season for the Night Train, which will trim its roster to 25 by March 12. La Crosse will conduct two practice sessions tomorrow beginning at 8:00 a.m. at Logan High School Fieldhouse and will end the day with another two-hour session at the La Crosse Boys & Girls Club at 7:30 p.m.

Night Train camp will begin without the services of Marquette Smith (RB). Smith underwent a MRI examination on Monday and has not received official results yet. He is expected to return for the March 29th game against Tri-City, but could be out the entire 2003 season.

La Crosse will open its 2003 schedule on March 14 against the Sioux City Bandits. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. at the La Crosse Center.
