Storm slates three more players

03/04/03 Storm Press Release

The Sioux Falls Storm of the National Indoor Football League (NIFL) is pleased to announce the re-signing of defensive back Michael Williams and the free agent signings of former Northern State University players Cody Jamison and Pete Peterson.

Williams, 5’11”, 185 lbs, is returning for his second season with the Storm.  Williams, who played at Humboldt State University, played sparingly in 2002 for the Storm after joining the team midway through the 2002 season.  “Michael has some great footwork, and has truly become a technician at the defensive back position.  We expect Williams to fight for a starting role at a very competitive defensive backfield position,” says head coach Kurtiss Riggs.

Jamison, a former Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) honorable mention player at Northern State, will join the 2003 Storm team at the wide receiver position.  Cody caught 35 receptions for 452 yards in 2001.  He also had 33 kick returns for 843 yards, including a NCAA Division II record setting 302 return yards in one game.

Peterson, anther Northern State University (NSU) alum, will join the Storm to compete for the kicking duties.  Pete was a four-year starter for NSU, and an All-NSIC selection.  In his senior season at NSU, Peterson was 43 of 47 on point-after-attempts, and 10 of 14 on field goal attempts.  Peterson has been in camps with Canadian Football teams, as well as within the NIFL.  “Both Pete and Cody come from a strong football program, and we will look for them both to compete for a roster position,” stated Coach Riggs.

The Storm will head to Sioux City, Iowa on Thursday, March 6 for a preseason game against the Bandits. The Storm’s home opener is April 5, when they will face Casper, Wyoming. All seven of the Storm’s homes games are Saturday night with kickoff at 7:05 p.m. For more information, including season ticket options and a complete 2003 schedule, please contact the Storm’s front office at 605-332-4225 or visit the teams website at
