Hounds embark on space odyssey

02/06/03 Greyhounds Press Release

The Ohio Valley Greyhounds will embark on a space odyssey at 9 am Saturday, March 15.

The team will visit Wheeling Jesuit University’s Challenger Learning Center as part of their 2003 training camp.

The Challenger Learning Center has been a popular destination for school children, college pupils and area professionals promoting teamwork in simulated crisis situations.  The CLC is a unique hands-on exercise that enhances classroom learning.  The skills needed to be successful in a Mission are directly related to skills used in the workforce: decision-making, problem solving and teamwork being a few.  The Challenger Learning Center at Wheeling Jesuit University is part of a growing network of centers worldwide established in memory of the ill-fated Challenger Space Shuttle.

The CLC is comprised of a space station that gives mission participants the simulated experience of working in space and mission control, modeled after NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.
