'Ants Kick Off Season This Week in Biloxi
The Tupelo FireAnts will kick off the 2002 NIFL season on the road against the defending champs, the Mississippi Fire Dogs this Saturday. Biloxi, while one of the top teams in the league last year has faltered as of late, losing to the Louisiana Rangers, 23-21 this past weekend in their first game this year.
The FireAnts are coming into the season with some talented players in the lineup. With the combination of experienced players from last year's roster combined with some new talent, the FireAnts are expecting another successful season on the turf.
Roster Nears Finish...FireAnts Add 10 New Players
The FireAnts have just about put the tap on the opening roster, with the signing of ten new players to the 25-man lineup. Included in the ten players signed as of late are former Tupelo High and Mississippi State University Quarterback Todd Jordan, former Bulldog Kicker Jeff Walker, along with Wide Receiver Jason Clingan who played on the collegiate level at Ole Miss.
