Just the two of us
04/22/03 LandSharks Press Release
Last week, there were four teams in the NIFL that were undefeated: Lake Charles, Beaumont, Ohio Valley, and Utah. One had to fall as Lake Charles traveled to Beaumont. Beaumont fell and fell hard. The LandSharks played their best game of the season harassing QB Derrick Taite and running over the Beaumont defense.
Utah also fell to Rapid City leaving only two undefeated teams in the NIFL: the Lake Charles LandSharks and the Ohio Valley Greyhounds. These two teams are quite familiar with each other and the situation; and both teams want home field advantage in the playoffs.
Last year, the Ohio Valley Greyhounds lost only one game as they steamrolled their way to the NIFL Championship. The LandSharks had only two losses, both of which came at the hands of Tennessee, one in the regular season and one in the first round of the playoffs. The LandSharks’ goal is to do what Ohio Valley did last year, win the NIFL Championship, beating anyone that gets in the way; Houma is in the way.
After starting the season 2-0, the Bucks have lost their last three games. The Bucks losses were to Utah, Beaumont, and Austin. The Bucks are still hoping to make the playoffs, but must turn their season around quickly to have a chance. Another Atlantic Southern Division loss could be devastating for the Bucks.
The Bayou Bucks will be ready Saturday and so must the Lake Charles LandSharks. After handily beating the previously undefeated Beaumont Drillers, the Sharks must be aware of a possible letdown. In order to maintain their hopes for home field advantage, the LandSharks need to beat the Houma Bayou Bucks. This Saturday’s game will be a big one in the Atlantic South Division.
