FireAnts hit road for the Bayou

04/29/03 FireAnts Press Release

The Tupelo FireAnts (1-4) travel to Cajun country this Sunday afternoon to battle the Houma Bayou Bucks (3-3) in a matchup of two teams who posted upset victories last Saturday night.

The Houma Bayou Bucks traveled to Lake Charles (5-1) and handed the LandSharks their first loss of the season while the FireAnts hosted the Beaumont Drillers (4-2) and avenged a season-opening 33-10 Tupelo loss at Beaumont Civic Center. Tupelo wideout Darryl Carter (14 catches for 145 yards and 5 touchdowns) and halfback Allen Copeland (19 rushes for 64 yards and 2 touchdowns) will try to improve the FireAnts’ position in the National Indoor Football League Atlantic South Division against a very stingy Bayou Bucks defense lead by defensive lineman Andre Reed, who has registered 6.5 sacks and 11.5 tackles for a loss so far this season.

The game on Sunday gets underway at 4:00pm in Houma, LA.  You can listen to all of the action live on WBIP 99.3FM or online at
