LandSharks beat Alexandria with late touchdown
05/04/02 Lake Charles American PressALEXANDRIA — Byron Allen ran in a 1-yard touchdown with 1:55 remaining as the Lake Charles LandSharks beat Alexandria 41-38 Friday to remain unbeaten in National Indoor Football League play.
Lake Charles (6-0) trailed much of the game, but took the lead 34-32 in the third quarter when Ted Robison threw his second touchdown pass, a 4-yard scoring strike to Tony Citizen.
Tarvares Wynn's 3-yard scoring run gave Alexandria its final lead 38-34 with 6:32 remaining in the game. But Eric Young returned the kick to the Lake Charles 24, and the LandSharks drove eight plays and 26 yards ending with Allen's scoring run.
Robison completed 13-of-21 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. Robison also ran in three scores.
Chris Harrington was held to 84 yards and two touchdowns on 7-of-16 passes for Alexandria (3-2). He was also sacked twice for a loss of 20 yards. His second TD throw, 21 yards to Jacobe Austin with 15 seconds remaining in the first half, sent the Rangers into the locker room with a 32-27 halftime lead.
Lake Charles travels to Biloxi, Miss., next Saturday before returning home to face Enid, Okla., on May 18.
Lake Charles had 261 yards total offense to 202 for the Rangers, but nearly doubled them in penalty yards 79-40.
