FireAnts Weekly Update
05/07/02 FireAnts Press Release
FireAnts Prepare for Next 4 On the Road
The FireAnts lost to the Austin Knights this past weekend at the BancorpSouth Center 67-55. With the best offensive performance on the year from the FireAnts, they were just unable to squeak out a win against a tough Knights team.
Top 'Ants in the scoring department this game included RB Chris Rainey, who netted three rushing touchdowns. Also running the ball for TD's, included QB Damon Smith and FB Troy Glover. Latest 'Ants addition at wide receiver and former University of Mississippi player Vincent Brownlee was on the receiving end of two touchdowns on the night.
Now, the FireAnts will play their next four games on the road, including stops in St. Louis, MO, Knoxville, TN, Enid, OK and Wheeling, WV.
Mooney Returns
Brownlee Enters Lineup
Former Mississippi State standout Paul Mooney re-joined the FireAnts this past Saturday. Mooney, a key member of the FireAnts offensive line last season now joins some new and old faces on the turf in 2002. WR Vincent Brownlee was also added to the lineup for Saturday's game. Brownlee, a former Ole Miss Rebel, has spent quite some time in the football ranks, now, with the FireAnts, and making quite the first impression with two TD catches in the end zone.
