'Hounds sign two

The 2002 NIFL National Champion Ohio Valley Greyhounds are pleased to announce the signing of Butchie Washington and Ken Sandor.

Washington, a 6'0", 210-pound quarterback from the University of Akron, will make his NIFL debut with the Greyhounds. Butchie played the 2001 and the 2002 season for the Hamilton Tigers of the CFL.

Butchie holds the Zips record 471 completions for 6,699 yards and 38 touchdowns. He started 38 consecutive games to complete his career, which is the second longest streak by a division 1-A quarterback.

Washington is a Columbus, Ohio native, where he is an elementary school teacher.

Sandor, a 6'4", 300-pound offensive linemen from West Virginia University, will make his professional debut with the Greyhounds this weekend. Sandor will be filling in for the injured Mike Blackburn at center.

Sandor started every game for the 2002 Mountaineers at a variety of line positions. Ken also started the last six games of the 2001 season.

Sandor is a native of Roebling. NJ and is currently finishing his masters degree at WVU.

Mark Holtzman a 6'4", 285-pound defensive linemen will make his second start at St. Charles this weekend. Mark was a three year lettermen at Syacuse University. Holtzman played the 2002 season in the CFL.

Roosevelt Benjamin will make his second start for the Hounds in St. Charles. Benjamin is a graduate of Clarion University and recorded 4 tackles and 1 interception vs. Evansville last week.
