Diesel edge Beef by a TD

05/10/02 Diesel Press Release
In front of the biggest crowd of the season in the Diesel Dome, the Tri-City Diesel bested the Omaha Beef 26-19 Friday night. The win is the third in eight games for the Diesel, leaving the Beef with just their second loss in seven games.

The Beef ran nine more plays than did the hosting team, but gained 51 fewer yards. The teams were just one yard apart through the air, but the Diesel churned the ground game for 67 yards as compared to 15 for the Beef. Diesel defense was the story of the game.

Newcomer Andre Hatcher, an Ohio State product, ground out 54 yards in his debut as a tailback. Quarterback Justin Coleman connected on 10 of his 19 passes thrown, hitting Mitch Ables for two TD’s.

Rapid City is next on the Diesel schedule. The Red Dogs narrowly escaped a loss in the Diesel Dome just two weeks ago and will host the Diesel next Saturday night, the 18th.
