Diesel snap skid in record breaking fashion
05/12/03 Diesel Press Release
The Tri-City Diesel snapped a five game losing streak in record-breaking fashion with an 80-43 victory over the Wyoming Cavalry. They broke seven team records and tied two others in the process.
The previously dormant Diesel offense came to life as they scored 11 touchdowns on the Cavalry defense including a record high eight touchdown passes by quarterback Roger Linn. The previous record of six touchdown passes by a Diesel player or team in one game was set by Justin Coleman last season against the Sioux City Bandits.
Greg Lathan Jr. had ten catches for 114 yards and three touchdowns tying the team records for most receptions and most touchdown receptions in a game. Dustin Morgan also gained a share of the record with three touchdowns on five catches for 34 yards while Tyrone Thomas and Terry McClain each had catches for touchdowns.
The Diesel also rolled on the ground as Sherman Jones broke his previous record of 88 yards rushing in a game by gaining 106 yards on 12 carries and three touchdowns including a long of 41 yards.
The 80 points in a game smashed the previous team record of 54 set on week two this season against the Oklahoma Crude. The Diesel also averaged 7.5 yards per rush and 6.4 yards per play breaking the old records of 5.5 yards per rush and 6.3 yards per play.
The Diesel hit the road again this week to play the Omaha Beef on Sunday and then return home again to play the Bismarck Rough Riders on Saturday, May 24th. Information and tickets for home games may be picked up at the Tri-City Arena box office or by calling (308) 338-8011.
