'Ants Pull it Together in River City

The FireAnts won over the River City Renegades this past Saturday, 38-34, on the road in St. Louis, MO.

DB/KR Bobby Hill got the game rolling for the FireAnts scoring a touchdown at the 8:04 mark of the first quarter on a missed Renegades field goal opportunity. With QB's Todd Jordan and Damon Smith splitting time at the helm, the FireAnts were able to pull off their second win of the season against River City.

Damon Smith connected in the end zone to WR Kevin Cooper for two touchdowns on the night. Smith also rushed for one touchdown, as well, a 47-yard keeper late in the fourth quarter. With the game ticking down in the fourth, Smith was able to throw a three-yard feed to WR Vincent Brownlee for the close, 38-34 win in St. Charles.

Other key performers in Saturday's win: DB Curtis Beals and DB Kenzaki Jones, both gaining interceptions in the game. Also Kicker Jim Terry had a stellar start in his first game in a FireAnts uniform.

Tupelo now improves to 2-4 on the season while River City drops to 0-7. The FireAnts continue life on the road next Sunday as they visit the Tennessee Thunder Cats in Knoxville, TN for a 3pm game.

The Thunder Cats, 4-3 overall on the season, will be an interesting matchup for the FireAnts.  The T-Cats are undefeated on home turf so far.
