Warriors win, 63-53

05/18/03 Warriors Press Release

The Utah Warriors traveled to Bismarck North Dakota Saturday night to challenge the Rough Riders and continue their winning streak with a 63-53) win.

The Warriors started off their trip with a broken down bus in Salt Lake City. Once the Warriors arrived in Bismarck they had their game faces on. The Warriors (6-1) had all of the reasons in the world to show the Rough Riders what they are all about.

In the pre-game show the Bismarck crowd began their night with a stadium full of boo’s for Danny Ragsdale. Ragsdale played in Bismarck last year and after some problems with the management traded to Utah.

Another game of heated attitudes as both teams exchanged words after most plays. The Roughriders lost their key reviver in the third quarter as he was ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct after ripping off the helmet of Warriors kicker Pete Garces. The Warriors came back to play a great defensive game and the offense started to play like they have all year.

“It was a heated game and they were out to get Danny. He took some serious hits early in the game but he held on like he always does. Our defense was kicked up a notch with Jeff Main and Lance Sopoaga making some big plays.” Said head coach Lee Leslie.

The Warriors hold their lead in the in the Pacific conference and maintain the 2nd seed in the nation. The Warriors will be back in their home coliseum on May 24th and will be getting some well needed redemption on the Rapid City Red Dogs who gave the Warriors their only loss of the year.

The Utah Warriors will begin the day on May 24th with a tailgate party at the E Center. The party will begin at 2pm with all kinds of entertainment along with a kid’s zone. Come out and enjoy an afternoon with the Utah Warriors.

The Utah Warriors are also offering discount tickets to all Ute Conference players, families and coached if they wear their uniforms to the games.
