'Ants take on Horsemen this Saturday
05/29/03 FireAnts Press Release
The Tupelo FireAnts return home after dropping a 27-15 decision to the Oklahoma Crude last Friday night in Enid, Oklahoma.
This Saturday, the FireAnts (1-8) will face the Lexington Horsemen (6-2). This is the first ever meeting between these two franchises, but not between many of the players in the game because the Lexington Horsemen are primarily composed of former University of Kentucky Wildcats while your Tupelo FireAnts roster is peppered with former Mississippi State Bulldogs and Ole Miss Rebels.
This game features one of the league’s best offenses versus one of the league’s best defenses. The Tupelo FireAnts are fourth in the league in defense (201 yards per game) while the Lexington Horsemen are third in the league in scoring (52.9 points per game).
Tupelo’s defense is lead by Eric Bingham (50 tackles) and Ricky Franklin (41 tackles, 8 tackles for a loss). The Lexington offense is lead by quarterback Dusty Bonner who has completed 164 of 254 passes for 1,551 yards with 36 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.
The FireAnts take on the Horsemen at the BancorpSouth Center starting at 7:05pm. For ticket information, call the BancorpSouth Center Box Office at 841-6528.
