Drillers shore up defense

On Friday May 30th Steven Reap, General Manager of the Beaumont Drillers, officially parted ways with nose guard Mark Boleware.

Boleware, a native of Silsbee TX approached Reap about the release just hours after Thursday nights practice.

"We never have a problem releasing a player who doesn’t want to play for us.  We wish Mark the best on whatever endeavor he may embark on in the future. The release of Mark is just part of the process in solidifying our defense," said Reap.

Replacing Boleware, will be Chris Jones a 6'3 318 pound Southland All-Conference Player from of Northwestern State University. Jones is expected to make an immediate impact on the D-Line that has been sub-par so far this season for the Drillers. 

Joining Jones on the line will be Roy Locks from West Orange Stark.  Roy was most recently named Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Locks, also from Northwestern has the size and speed to make an immediate impact coming off the edge for the drillers. Locks is 6'2 240 and runs a 4.5 40.

Other additions to the defense include NSU linebacker Germane Williams and Lumberton native Eric Winchester of Southwest Oklahoma.

In other roster movements, the Drillers also announce the departure of George Miller and Ralph Street both of Marshall. 

The Drillers are on the second swing of a three game road trip.  This week the Drillers take on division rival Lake Charles LandSharks in a crucial playoff implicated game.
