Caps sign indoor vet

06/06/02 Capitols Press Release
Lincoln Capitols head coach Jose Jefferson has announced the signing of wide receiver Ryan Hienske for the remaining five games of the regular season.

Hienske is a former member of the Indoor Football League's Green Bay Bombers, and was selected to the 2000 IFL Eastern Conference Pro Bowl team despite playing in only six games due to a knee injury.  He caught 20 passes for 256 yards and 13 touchdowns in the six games he was active.

Prior to playing in Green Bay, Hienske spent time with the Ancona Dolphins of the FIFA-Italian League.  In Ancona, Hienske played quarterback in 1998 and in 1999 saw action in one game as a receiver, making 11 catches for 211 yards and four touchdowns.

Hienske was an NCAA Division III third-team All-American selection in 1997, playing 10 games, making 74 catches for 1,092 yards and scoring 18 touchdowns.

Hienske joins the Capitols as the ready for their final regular season road trip this weekend.  The Capitols meet in-state foe Tri-City Saturday night at 7:35 PM in Kearney.
