Beef to host last regular season home game

06/2/03 Beef Press Release

The Omaha Beef (10-3) will head into their final regular season game trying to avenge a loss to the Sioux City Bandits (6-7) this Saturday, June 28, at 7:05 PM at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.  The Beef are coming off a 63-39 road victory over the Wyoming Calvary.  The Beef's backup quarterback Matt LaFleur flourished in the win at Wyoming with 109 yards on 8-14 passing including 5 TD's, in his first start filling in for Troy Travis.

The fans at the slaughterhouse will see the return of a couple of key Beef players this week. Travis will be ready to return to action after resting an injury in Wyoming.  Offensive specialist Stephen Lovell made his return last weekend and defensive lineman Damien Bauman is expected to gain medical clearance for the match up with Sioux City this weekend.  This will help the Beef as they will be looking to head into the playoffs with a full head of steam.

Sioux City is trying to rebound after a loss at Lincoln 42-24 last weekend and end the season with a win over archrival Omaha and spoil the home field advantage in the playoffs for the Beef.  Leading the way for the Bandits will be quarterback Jarrod DeGeorgia the former Wayne State Wildcat and backup to Kurt Warner with the Iowa Barnstormers in 1997.

The Beef have already wrapped up a home game in the first round of the NIFL playoffs and could get a second round home game with a win over the Bandits.  The first round playoff game will be on Saturday, July 12, at the Civic Auditorium at 7:05 PM against an opponent yet to be determined.
