Caps tie record?
06/29/02 Capitols Press Release
The NIFL Pacific North division-leading Lincoln Capitols improved to 9-4 Saturday night, in rousing fashion, blowing out the RiverCity Renegades 120-15 at the Pershing Center. Lincoln got seven rushing touchdowns from Rayshawn Askew, and a stifling defense registered four safeties, making things uncomfortable for Renegade quarterback Nick Lurty all night long.
RiverCity held early leads of 6-0 and 9-7 before the Capitols began to gain control, bolting to a 23-9 lead. The Renegades cut the lead to 23-15 with 10:40 to play in the first half, the final points they would score on the evening. Lincoln, in scoring a touchdown on every possession they had,
rattled off 30 unanswered points before halftime and then tallied 67 in the second half.
The Capitols eclipsed the 100 point mark early in the fourth quarter in running their mark to a perfect 6-0 at home this season. Lincoln closes out the regular season Friday night at 7:35 against the Tri-City Diesel at the Pershing Center. Tri-City dealt Sioux City a 44-37 defeat Saturday night to give Lincoln a game advantage over the Bandits in the race for the Pacific North title.
