Warriors clinch Pacific West Division title

07/07/03 Warriors Press Release

Few thought that a first year football team in Utah would make any real waves in the National Indoor Football League.  However, with a great balance of veteran players, including last year’s MVP Danny Ragsdale, and a strong showing of local talent, the Utah Warriors have officially won the Pacific West Division Title.  The team is now poised to go into the playoffs this Saturday, July 12th at the E-Center, at 7 pm.

“Out of twenty-four teams in the league only four start the playoffs with a home game; we are one of those four teams.  That says a lot about the guys on this team” said Coach Lee Leslie after Saturday’s win in Beaumont Texas.  The Warriors defeated the Drillers 56 to 44.

Saturday the Utah Warriors will face the Sioux Falls Storm for the third time this season.  The two teams split their regular season games each winning at home.  With a record of 10 and 3 the Storm are not to be overlooked.  “The fans have been there for the team all year, but we need the fans now more than ever.  I’d really like to see them pack the E-Center with their painted faces, noise makers and all,” said Assistant Coach Bob Main.

The Utah Warriors have decided to keep playoff prices the same as regular season prices.  Prices range from $12 to $16 and are available at the E-Center box office, Smithtix or by calling the Warrior’s Football office at 973-7311.

The Warriors (11-3) start the playoffs July 12th versus Sioux Falls Storm (10-4).  Kickoff is at 7 pm at the E-Center.
