KEARNEY - The Tri-City Diesel had four players nominated to the 2002 NIFL Northern Division All-Star team on Monday.
Cornerback Charles Verdone and linebacker Eric Ryan represent the Diesel defense. Verdone intercepted eight passes on the season, while Ryan led Tri-City in tackles with 121 tackles.
Offensive lineman Brett Wetton and Jesse Burke rounded out Tri-City's selections.
Each of the NIFL's four divi-sions nominates 21 players based on a vote by the coaches.
"Our level of talent increases each year," NIFL Executive Com-mittee Chairperson Carolyn Shiver said. "We are pleased that most of our teams are represented on the All-Divisional or All-Star lists.
"It is anticipated that the league will see players moving up to big-ger leagues next season. This is one of the reasons the NIFL came into existence."
