Warriors to face Beef for Pacific Conference Championship
07/14/03 Warriors Press Release
As the fourth quarter was coming to a close in Saturday night’s first round playoff game, fans and players alike knew the Utah Warriors would be heading into the second round. Die-hard fans had been receiving updates throughout the night from Omaha, Nebraska to learn whom the Warriors would face in the next stage. A fan in the front row held up a sign stating that the Omaha Beef had beat the Bismarck Roughriders, which meant the Warriors would be going on the road. Moments later the fan stood again with a new message “Beef, It’s what’s for Dinner!” it read.
The National Indoor Football League is composed of twenty-four teams, and to be in the final four is a great accomplishment. This Utah team never had a goal of merely making it to the playoffs though; their goal is to win a championship. “We just need to take care of one more game, then we’re in the final,” said wide receiver Mike Montoya directory after the game. The team enjoyed the win, but knew their goal was still to be achieved.
Over the past weekend each of the home teams got the win. The home field advantage will not be there for this next game and the Warriors know they will have to bring their A-game to get by the Mighty Beef. The team is potentially flying out on Friday. The game will begin at 6:05 MST, Saturday and will be broadcast live on 1280 AM the Sports Zone with Ryan Hatch.
