Bobby Hall is looking for a few good men
08/04/03 FireAnts Press Release
The Tupelo FireAnts professional indoor football team, under the direction of Head Coach Bobby Hall, will hold a series of six tryout camps as the team rebuilds and recruits incoming players for the 2004 National Indoor Football League season.
Tryout camps will take place every month, from August through January at Robbins Field in Tupelo, located on the corner of Church and Jackson streets on the following dates:
- Saturday, August 16
- Saturday, September 20
- Saturday, October 11
- Saturday, November 15
- Saturday, December 20
- Saturday, January 17
Registration for interested participants will take place at 8:00am on each date, with camp running from 9:00-12:00 noon. An advanced evaluation tryout will be held for participants selected (invitation only) from the morning session from 2:00-5:00pm. Players continuing to show promise will have the opportunity to be invited to all advanced evaluation tryouts, thus increasing their chances of making the final 2004 FireAnts roster.
“We want to take a look at as many players, as early as possible,” FireAnts Head Coach Bobby Hall said. “In doing so, the advanced tryouts become more important because we only have 25 spots to fill on the roster…and we want to fill those spots with the best players possible.”
Players interested in trying out for the Tupelo FireAnts will only have to pay the one-time registration fee of $50.00. Also included in the camp cost is a FireAnts T-shirt and two tickets to the 2004 home opener at the BancorpSouth Center.
Players that do not make the initial coaching staff cuts, will have the opportunity to return to any of the remaining FireAnts camps, and will be exempt from any future tryout camp registration costs.
Interested participants will need to bring running shoes, cleats and workout clothing appropriate for the weather to the tryout.
