Indoor football comes to Lexington

Lexington's newest professional sports franchise unveiled their team name, logo, and colors today at a press conference in the Lexington Civic Center. The Lexington Horsemen will begin play in the National Indoor Football League on March 22, with a road game against division rival Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Horsemen's home opener will be played on March 29 against Lake Charles, LA at Rupp Arena. The franchise received more than 700 entries in a contest designed to help pick the team's name. The winning name of Horsemen was submitted by Tim Epperson of Winchester, who will receive two season tickets and Horsemen merchandise for his entry. The two runners-up in the contest were Steve Druin of Greensburg and Todd Hamilton of Lexington. They will each receive tickets to the March 29 home opener against Lake Charles, as well as Horsemen merchandise. Season tickets are still available for Horsemen games.
