Beaumont now Drillers. Diaz to lead

Lynn Linderman’s entry of Beaumont Drillers was selected as the winning entry for the Name the Team contest sponsored by NBC affiliate KBTV, channel 4. The team name and logo were revealed today in a press conference held at the Home of the Beaumont Drillers, the Beaumont Hilton.
Also today, Stephen Diaz was presented as the new head coach. Diaz, a Port Arthur native, is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High and attended both Ranger College and Tarleton State on football scholarships. He holds an associate degree in physical Education and BS in Kinesiology and Secondary Education. Diaz leaves the Louisiana Landsharks, where he was an assistant coach, to take the head coaching position with the Drillers. This past season, the Landsharks finished the season with a 13-1 record and the best defensive and offensive line in the Atlantic conference. Diaz has two daughters, Victoria and Valerie.
Diaz has name Beau Shahan as defensive coordinator. Shahan, of Beaumont, is a graduate of Billings West (MT) High school and attended Rocky Mountain College in Montana and earning his master in Education Administration at Lamar University. He has previously coached both offense and defense, as served as the Offensive Coordinator for the Tacoma Express of the PFL. Shahan is presently the defensive coordinator and linebacker coach at High Island.
