12/09/02 RiverHawks Press Release
KNOXVILLE, TN- The Tennessee RiverHawks, Knoxville’s new indoor football team, are holding tryouts for the 2003 squad. The team is taking the opportunity to search for talent in Knoxville and the surrounding area.
Tryouts will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2003 from 5pm to 10pm at the ThunderPlex (737 Lovell Road). Participants are asked to wear a t-shirt, shorts, and turf shoes. The pre-registration is $50, day of registration is $55. Participants will receive an official tryout t-shirt.
“Our October tryout was successful,” said General Manager/Offensive Coordinator Garmez Parks. “We invited players from that group to attend our preseason camp. We wanted to have another tryout for players who were playing collegiate football in the fall. Our preseason camp will begin the last week of February, and we plan for it to be very competitive.”
The RiverHawks will play in the Atlantic Conference North Division of the National Indoor Football League in 2003. The NIFL has twenty-four teams located in eighteen states from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to Salt Lake City, Utah. The RiverHawks’ Atlantic North Division includes six teams: Lexington Horsemen, South Carolina Stingrays, Evansville Bluecats, Fort Wayne Freedom, and Ohio Valley Greyhounds.
The RiverHawks will open their inaugural season with the defending NIFL League Champion Greyhounds on March 22 at the Civic Coliseum.
