NIFL announces Players of the Week

Lafayette La… Week 5 Players of the Week have been selected. From the Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week , for the second week in a row, goes to Ohio Valley Greyhound’s Quarterback Shane Franzer. Franzer passed for 201 yards with 4 touchdowns. Defensive Player of the Week is a Horsemen from Lexington, Nate Green, had 12 tackles (9 solo) and 1 interception in their win against the Myrtle Beach Stingrays. Special Teams Player of the Week honors also goes to a Horsemen, Dougie Allen with 5 kick returns for 173 yards and 2 touchdowns. Allen also contributed offensively with 5 receptions for 87 yards and another touchdown.
The Pacific Conference Offensive Player of the Week is Matt Strand of the Wyoming Calvary. Strand threw for 182 yards and 5 touchdowns. He also ran for 34 yards. Defensive Player of the Week goes to the Wyoming Cavalry’s Greg Ortberg who had 11 tackles (9 solo) and 3 interceptions on the night. Special Teams Player of the Week this week goes to Jesse Wavrunek of the Sioux City Bandits. Wavrunek had 7 tackles (4 solo) and 2 for losses, a blocked field goal, and a sack on the night. Wavrunek was named Defensive Player of the Week for Week 4.
