O.K. here is a place where all us caps fans can get together and talk about how good our Caps are goin to be...
well 145 odd days till kick off and I am already getting excited for what can be a great turnaround for the franchise. If we win the fans will realy start coming in.
I was also wondering if anyone had heard how many caps from last year were making the trip back to lincoln in the spring. and I also hope that the league schedules a 16 game schedule.
And we need to invite retzlaff back to kick. bezdicek can stay home this time around (its never good when a fan shows you up at halftime by making a contest winning 15 yarder) icon_lol.gif
And I'll go ahead and make a prediction: if we dont win the whole thing we are at least going to win the NEBRASKA CUP- DIEsel and BeEf suck!!

hey, I'm new in town from Bismark. I know you guys hate the Riders because we nudged you out of the playoffs last year, but I have to have a team to be proud of. Are you guys getting any better attendence nowadays because the last time I played here in 2002, there may have been 800 fans tops?

Yeah, the attendance is back to the mid-2000 range...it is only rising.

Hey, hating the Riders would be kind of harsh, but we did voice disappointment at the time. The Riders had(have) such a great bunch of fans it was hard to get too carried away!

I was at that game, probably our worst ever attended game. If I remember correctly that was the first night the Cornhuskers were ever in the College World Series. Too bad for the fans not there because that was definitely one of the most exciting games I've ever seen, whoever had the ball last wins. The Caps had to have a successful onside kick to keep the ball out of Ragsdale and the Riders hands and score last to win.

The group last year had momentum and attendance was building as the season went on, we have a long way to go, but if somehow the team can pick up where they left off we can continue the growth. Our organization has worked hard to get rid of the bad taste that the Lightning organization left in the community with their unfulfilled commitments.

We had a great group of guys playing for the team last year and a great coaching staff, you could see how the team bonded and grew as the season progressed. The fans were really growing toward this team and the season seemed to end too soon as momentum was building.

Sounds like things are going well here in Lincoln. I can't wait until the season starts so I can get my indoor football fix. It will be strange watching for the first time in the seats though.
As for that game in 2002 against the RR's. May I remind you that that game wouldn't have been nearly so close had we had all of our defensive players. We had three starters on D not make that game because of team financial problems. Heck, Cradle was playing linebacker for most of that game. Your D isn't going to be very good if your running back is playing ironman.
That's all water under the bridge though. I hope that Capitol football will be good this year and allow me to enjoy the game again.

Being short handed sometimes is the norm in this league, sometimes due to players other obligations, none the less, both teams put on quite a show that night. The effort was high and the fans really enjoyed the play by both teams, wouldn't have mattered who won. I was obviously pulling for my favorite team, but wouldn't have felt cheated after watching a game as exciting as that, it's what the NIFL is all about.

I hope things go well this year too, there's some question who will be coaching the team so I'm waiting to see where we're headed. Although I've bought a pair of season tickets depending who is coaching I do plan to buy at least a couple more. The Caps have just moved to their new offices as the old building they were in was sold so I haven't been able to get through to catch the latest news.

So.....you live in Lincoln now? What brings you all the way down here......the warmer weather?

I am originally from Wakefield NE. Went to school at WSC. I am student teaching in Waverly. I will graduate in December and hope to find a job in the area. Lincoln is a great town.
Has the process begun to find a coach yet. I know Luke Schaffer might be looking for one. He was the coach in Bis. last year and did a wonderful job considering he was brought in two weeks before the season started. There wasn't anyone signed when he got there, and look how the team did.

I heard that the team is in the process of changing offices and maybe owners. Coaching news and front office news is on the horizon. But most importantly - THE CAPS WILL PLAY IN 2004!!

My Brother is teaching right now and he would have to miss school to play so it isn't looking like it. I guess time will tell! Football season just ended for them, they made it to the third round of playoffs so I dont think he has had time to miss it yet but I am sure he will!

Congratulations to Jason and his team! I would love to see him in Diesel green this season. He would be a great addition to our receiving core. Kearney is closer to Lodgepole then Lincoln!
