The indoor game is different from conventional 11 man football. Here are some of the differences.
Eight Players
-
On offense, there are three linemen, three receivers, a quarterback and a running back.
-
On defense, three players must be linemen. The others are linebackers or backs.
-
There must be separate offensive and defensive starters, but all players can serve as backups on either side of the ball.
Fifty Yard Field
Three Men In Motion
-
Three offensive players can be in motion at one time. Their first step must be lateral or backward, but then they can move towards the line of scrimmage, but can not cross it till the ball is snapped.
Dasher Boards
Blitzing
No Punting
-
If the offense fails to make a first down, which is 10 yards as in the regular 11 man game, in 4 downs the ball is turned over to the opposing team, but field goals are allowed.
