Fire Dogs bomb Bayou Beasts

05/13/01 Sun Herald
MONROE, La. - The Mississippi Fire Dogs remained in the chase for first place in the National Indoor Football League with a 41-6 road win over Monroe Saturday night.

Derrick Taite and Stu Rayburn each accounted for a pair of touchdowns, and the Mississippi defense suffocated the Bayou Beasts as the Fire Dogs moved to 4-1 in the league. Full story>>

Dogs calm Storm 44-33

05/06/01 STEVE WISEMAN THE SUN HERALD
BILOXI -Kenny Causey walked down the aisle Saturday and then helped the Mississippi Fire Dogs walk over Sioux Falls.

After missing the first half of the National Indoor Football League game because of his wedding, Causey caught one touchdown pass and set up two other Mississippi scores in a 44-33 Fire Dogs win before a crowd of 850 at the Coast Coliseum.

The Fire Dogs (3-1) built a 20-13 halftime lead over the Storm (4-1) while Causey was attending his nuptials. When he arrived in the third quarter, he capped his first drive by catching a 3-yard touchdown pass for a 27-13 Fire Dogs lead. Full story>>

Storm surprises won't shake Fire Dogs' game plan

05/05/01  KATE MAGANDY THE SUN HERALD
BILOXI -The Mississippi Fire Dogs come into tonight's game against the Sioux Falls Storm without much knowledge of their opponent.

That may be the good news.

The Storm (4-0) comes in as the one of the hottest teams in the National Indoor Football League. And despite last week's loss to Lake Charles, the Fire Dogs (2-1) are equally as dangerous. Kickoff for the nondivision game is 8 p.m. at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

The Sioux Falls game film was lost in transit, so the Fire Dogs coaches have not been able to study the approaching Storm to look for tendencies and weaknesses. They have fallen back on what they do best - concentrating on their own game plan. Full story>>

Kicking off with 'I do'

05/02/01 KATE MAGANDY THE SUN HERALD
BILOXI - One of the Fire Dogs is hearing bells this week - and not from a hard tackle.

Wide receiver Kenny Causey is getting married Saturday, but still plans to suit up for this weekend's game, at least by halftime. Full story>>
