Red Dogs host Express for war

05/10/01 Jeff Easton Rapid City Journal
RAPID CITY — This National Indoor Football League game is sizing up to be an all-out war.

Two of the NIFL's best meet tonight when the Rapid City Red Dogs host the Utah Express at 7 p.m. at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

The Red Dogs (4-1) come in tied for the Central Division lead. The upstart Express (2-2), in their first year of indoor football, are the early-season surprise of the NIFL and tied for the lead in the Western Division.

"We think Utah is going to be a little more settled down, a little bit better with their schemes, and we expect it to be a pretty tough game," said Rapid City head coach Jeff Hamilton, thinking back to the team's March 31 game. "They've had four, five weeks in the league, and they're feeling comfortable." Full story>>

Red Dogs look to get more than a passing grade tonight

BILLINGS, Mont. -- Whoever said life in the National Indoor Football League was easy? Certainly not the league's schedule-makers.

The Rapid City Red Dogs, who are in the midst of playing four of five games on the road, must again turn into road warriors at 7 p.m. tonight when they face the Billings Outlaws in an important Central Division game at the Metra.

Rapid City enters the game at 3-1 on the season and 2-1 in divisional play after scraping out a 27-26 win over the Sioux City Bandits last week in Sioux City. Billings, riding a two-game win streak, comes in at 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the division. Full story>>
