Utah Edged by Rapid City

05/11/01 Salt Lake Tribune
Playing under a new name proved unlucky Thursday night for the National Indoor Football League team formerly known as the Utah Express.

Now known as the Utah Rattlers -- new uniforms to come -- the team lost 54-52 as Rapid City scored nine points in the game's final 10.8 seconds.

Adam Hicks kicked a 41-yard field goal on the game's final play at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City, S.D.

After Jason Quinn stopped a Rapid City drive with an end-zone interception, the Rattlers took a 52-45 lead with 21.8 seconds remaining on Fine Unga's fourth touchdown of the game, a 5-yard run. The Red Dogs answered with a long touchdown pass, but missed the extra point, leaving Utah ahead 52-51. Full story>>
